After ten years of academic writing, the author wanted to have some fun. Having just finished her Ph.D, and having 3 kids finally sleeping through the night, she sat down at her computer and took the plunge. She had been drafting this story for the past 5 years. Accumulating notes, researches and ideas. She had created these characters, between publishing articles on children’s literature, modelling them after her own children.

After the Tilt became a full-time job in May of 2019, as she officially became unemployed. So, she wrote every night, after her kids went to bed, expanding the world that had been living in her head all these years. She brought to life characters all too often ignored by the mainstream literature she had been studying. She wanted to write something, her own children could one day read, and connect with.

Growing up she had been an avid reader of Denis Côté, Pierre Boulle, Roger Leloup and René Barjavel. More recently, she devoured works written by Eric Walters, Hajime Isayama, Haruki Murakami, James Dashner and Jun Jung-Sik. Although she could never aspire to join the rank of their greatness, they left a strong impression on her and their influence can undoubtedly be felt in After the Tilt.
